Steubenville Pottery was incorporated in 1879. Their initial products were ironstone dinnerware and kitchenware. By 1902, Steubenville was making semi-vitreous dinnerware, toilet ware, and specialty ware such as jardinieres, salad bowls, and various styles of jugs.
Sale of the Steubenville Pottery Co. to Barium & Chemicals, Inc. was approved by stockholders on October 27, 1959. Molds and machinery were sold to Canonsburg Pottery which continued production of several Steubenville lines and even used the Steubenville Pottery name, particularly in advertisements and backstamps.
