The following article appeared in the April 1953 issue of Ceramic Industry. It talks about a special "pneumatic tool" developed at the Homer Laughlin China Company in Newell, WV. It was designed to better smooth out or "dress" the marks left from sagger pins on solid colored dinnerware.

The photo shows the tool being used on a stack of Fiesta® plates. This tool was also shown on the cover of the November-December 1954 issue of The Rohm & Hass Reporter which can be seen here.
