Colonial Couple
[DSN:UNK, NS:DN]
The Colonial Couple set is made up of several different decals. Many potteries and decorating companies of the late 1940s and early 1950s used these decals.
Colonial Couple has been known by several different names including:
- Colonial Quadrille (coined by author Richard Racheter)
- Courting Couple
- George and Martha
- Mme. de Pompadour
- Chantilly (American Limoges' name)
Some potteries officially used the decals, namely Harker Pottery, American Limoges, Cronin China, and the Taylor, Smith & Taylor Co.
However, most Homer Laughlin with Colonial Couple decals were decorated by outside firms. Such examples were often overdecorated with elaborate gold stamps and gold bands. Pacific China, Atlas China, Eastern China, LB Royal China, and Kass China were some of the decorators.
