Fiesta® Sugar, Creamer, and Tray Set
In the late 1930s, the company decided to create a special promotion campaign to increase the sales of Fiesta®. There were seven offerings in the promotion that were never part of the standard line and thus, not listed on Fiesta® price lists. They are:
  1. seven-piece juice set
  2. French casserole
  3. handled chop plate
  4. refrigerator set (From Kitchen Kraft)
  5. salad bowl with spoon and fork
  6. kitchen set with a casserole and pie plate
(sometimes a KK casserole was used, other times there was a Royal Metal promotional casserole)
  7. covered sugar, creamer, and tray set

Special Fiesta® promotions from 1940

The tray, often called a figure-8 tray, was the last piece modeled in 1939, while the covered sugar and creamer were the first pieces modeled in 1940. All three items were released into production soon after for the promotion.

The most common color combination offered was the sugar and creamer in yellow with a blue tray. However, red creamers and turquoise trays were also made. Harlequin yellow sugars and creamers have been found. (Sharon and Bob Huxford show the very rare turquoise creamer in several editions of their Fiesta® books. It is thought to be a one-of-a-kind example. If you find a turquoise creamer, then it is almost certainly a contemporary piece.)

Vintage trays will ALWAYS have wet foot, sagger pin marks, and usually an underglaze marking

When Fiesta® was reintroduced in 1986, the sugar, creamer, and tray set was revived. This time, sets were sold in single colors rather than mixed. However, collectors can purchase single colors at the factory outlets and mix and match to create their own color combinations.

Unlike their vintage counterparts, the contemporary trays will always have a wiped or dry foot since they sit directly on the kiln shelves when firing. Trays also have a debossed Fiesta® marking instead of an underglaze backstamp. The markings for the sugar and creamer were not changed. A letter "H" was added to the mark around 1999 to avoid confusion with vintage pieces.

The original finial was used on the sugar from 1986 until around the end of 1988. The older button finial was replaced by a new tall version.

Sugar, creamer, tray sets have been made in every color, except sapphire. However, a few rare sapphire covered sugars and creamers are known to exist.
