Fiesta® Mates/Colorations Oval Bowl

In the mid-1990s, the factory started making some of their commodity (restaurant ware) shapes in Fiesta® glazes. The assortment was originally called Fiesta® Mates, but the name was changed to Colorations.

One of the earliest pieces offered was product number 005, the Number 8 baker from the Rolled Edge shape. It measures 7 ⅜" across and holds 28 ounces.

For some reason, many of the oval bakers were marked with a Fiesta® backstamp instead of the standard Homer Laughlin marking. Shown below are three such pieces with Fiesta® markings and date codes from 1995 and 1996.

Listed are the verified Fiesta® colors used on the bakers. There may be others.

  1. white
  2. black
  3. rose
  4. apricot
  5. cobalt
  6. yellow
  7. turquoise

Harlequin Oval Bakers

The vintage Fiesta® line did not have any oval bowls or bakers in its assortment. However, Harlequin did have one baker and is included on this page since it is sometimes misidentified as Fiesta®. It was made in the first eight Harlequin glazes:

  1. Harlequin yellow
  2. Harlequin blue (mauve)
  3. (Spruce) green
  4. Maroon
  5. Tangerine (Fiesta red)
  6. Turquoise
  7. Salmon (rose)
  8. Light green

Harlequin Divied Bakers

Divided bakers have been found in the six Harlequin glazes from the 1950s: Harlequin yellow, turquoise, salmon (rose), chartreuse, forest green, and gray.

An entry in modeling log dated April 11, 1956, lists a divided baker, but gives no size or capacity specifications. However, there is a note indicating the bakers were released into production on June 20th, presumably in the same year.

The divided bakers are rather scarce. Don't expect to find them with any markings.
