The hostess bowl was modeled on August 26. 1999. It was put into production soon after and was offered as an exclusive by J. C. Penney. However, it eventually lost its exclusive status and became a standard part of the Fiesta® line in 2008.
Hostess bowls can be found with a debossed Fiesta HLC-USA marking. They were sometimes given the underglaze Fiesta® backstamp with date code in the center of the debossed marking.
The bowl holds 41 ounces and is 7 ¾" in diameter.

The hostess bowl [item 431] was offered in the following glazes:

From June to December 1998, the factory considered producing special pedestals for pillar candles. Several versions were made, but none went into production. The largest featured a dancing lady on top. The medium and small pedestals were given embossed Fiesta HLC-USA markings on top, with the assumption they would be covered with either a candle or some other object.
Eventually, a tapered candlestick was created and put in production, and all work on the pedestals was discontinued.
They are included on this page since the largest pedestal served as inspiration for the hostess bowl. The factory realized that when turned upside down, the large pedestal looked like it could be a bowl. The form was adapted into the hostess bowl with rings and chevrons.
