Fiesta® Butter Dishes There was not a covered butter dish created for the vintage Fiesta® line. However, there is evidence that the Jade shape covered butter dish was dipped in Fiesta® glazes for some distributors. For more on the vintage butter dish, see this page. The covered butter used in the new line actually had its beginnings in 1980. It was created for Table Fair, a line with Harlequin flatware mixed with cylindrical hollowware. See this page for more on Table Fair. When the Fiesta® covered butter was modeled on March 13, 1992, the Table Fair butter was used as a guide. The only major difference between the two involves the finals. The Table Fair finial is more knob-like, whereas the Fiesta® finial is flared. The Table Fair butters tend to be slightly larger. Covered butters were either not marked, or given an underglaze backstamp with a date code. Around 1996, a debossed logo was added to the mold. The covered butter was made for twenty years until it was replaced by the extra large butter dish in 2012. They weren't meant to be made in sapphire, but a few examples are known to exist. The base was given a debossed pattern and embossed HLC USA mark.
