Below are examples of underglaze border designs. They differ from the standard silk screen borders seen on Brittany and Piccadilly in that they extend beyond the rims and into the wells of the plates.
They date to the early 1940s and were applied to Brittany and Eggshell Nautilus blanks. Some have decals which would have been applied over the glaze. Company research numbers are noted under each plate.
Though not signed, they are most likely the work of artist Charles Williams who was responsible for most of the underglaze patterns at the factory in the late 1930s and into the 1940s.
None of these patterns went into production. They are from the collection of The Fiesta® Tableware Company.
