In 1955, the advertising firm Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborne helped the Homer Laughlin China Company launch an advertising campaign to promote Epicure dinnerware. The main objective was to highlight Epicure in three different full page advertisements in the four magazines: House Beautiful, Living for Young Homemakers, Ladies Home Journal, and Guide for the Bride.
The agency also sent out a series of mailings to various stores about the promotion and suggesting they order Epicure to meet the demand after consumers see the ads in the women's magazines. Below are the progressive color proofs from the collection of The Fiesta® Tableware Company. They were prepared by the Quality Photo Engraving Company of New York. The finished advertisements were made up of four colors (red, black, yellow, and blue) and the proofs required approval from the factory before they ran in the magazines.
