Below are test plates of silk screen patterns that did not go into production. They are from the collection of The Fiesta® Tableware Company. The upper portion dates from 1937 to the mid-1940s and the bottom portion is from 1949 to the mid-1950s.
Had any of these been approved they would have been used the Brittany shape with a few going to Piccadilly.
Some of the silk screen patterns might look familiar, but are in a non standard color. Others have the underglaze patterns along with overglaze decals. With very few exceptions, the decals were borrowed from lines already in production.
Many of the plates have research and development numbers on the back which are noted below. Those without any identification are listed as "no number". Most of these start with an "R-15-" which was a special number that referenced the underglaze decorations and colors. Other numbers prefixed with just "R-" identified the specific pattern with both an underglaze silk screen print and an overglaze decal. All of these numbers are somewhat meaningless today, however they are added for the sake of completeness.
