The images on this page come from two issues of Loblaws Premium Merchandise Catalogs, dated October 12, 1958 and October 12, 1959. The 40-page catalogs were filled with hundreds of items that could be purchased with 5-cent premium certificates. For every fifty cents spent in Loblaws supermarkets, a five cent certificate was given. The merchandise available included toys, household products, luggage, bath and table linens, dinnerware, record players, clocks, furniture, lamps, cookware, sporting goods, watches, and jewelry.
At the time these catalogs were published, Loblaws had supermarkets in New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Items from the catalogs could be ordered through the supermarkets or could be picked up at the special premium stores located in New York (Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Rochester, and Syracuse), Pennsylvania (Erie and Pittsburgh), and Youngstown, Ohio.
Shown here are the Hall China pieces offered by Loblaws in their 1958 and 1959 catalogs.
