In the 1940s, the Knowles China Company made special tea sets for children consisting of a teapot (or sometimes small coffeepot), creamer, sugar (most often without a lid), teacups, saucers, and six-inch plates.
The cups and saucers were usually demitasse or after dinner coffee cups and saucers taken from regular dinnerware shapes.
Treatments include Dutch Boy and Girl (in blue), Circus Animals, Skating Animals, Golden Wheat, and a wide variety of floral decals.
The Skating Animals are quite common. They include: the hippo, monkey, elephant, and a pig riding a goose. These decals used by
many potteries including W. S. George, Homer Laughlin, TS&T, Crown Potteries, and several others.
